Hi, I’m Kristen — founder of "rhythm & stitches", dance mom, and costume designer fueled by passion and purpose.For years, I stood in the wings as my daughter Sophia danced her heart out. She started dancing at just three years old, and began competing by six. I’ve supported her every step of the way — from rehearsals to competitions — and like so many dance parents, I’ve purchased more costumes than I can count. Each one held a little magic… but I always dreamed of creating that magic myself.Until recently, I relied on talented seamstresses to bring Sophia’s costumes to life. But in her final year of competitive dance, I finally taught myself to sew — and had the absolute honor of designing and creating her senior solo contemporary costume, just in time for nationals. That moment was more than a milestone. It was the beginning of "rhythm & stitches".Now, as Sophia pursues her BFA in Contemporary Performance and Choreography at "The Boston Conservatory at Berklee", I’ve stepped into a creative role of my own — crafting custom dance costumes for other dancers, studios, and choreographers. At "rhythm & stitches", I blend movement, emotion, and design to create pieces that not only fit beautifully but feel like an extension of the performance itself.
